     ”Homemade Filters for the Camera”

    Suggested by:  Sparkling_Rainbow

Home made camera filters is something I know nothing about.  I have done some learning and playing and have had some failed results as well as some I don’t feel too badly about.  As I thought about it I came up with the thought the filter could filter the total image or filter a portion of the image.  I don’t know if that is correct but I played with both ideas.  I have had a terrible headache for a few days so have nothing from outside the house.  Maybe I can add to this entry if I get something.

The above is an example of a screen filter.  I used a flour sifting cup for the screen.

This image and some below are seen through a pressed glass bowl I have.  Most of what I took I didn’t like but my Starbuck’s coffee mug came out pretty well.

Here you see some of my bathing goodies through the same glass bowl.

I used a coffee mug with an etched White Castle pattern for this photo.  I like this one pretty well.  My husband was kind enough to be the guinea pig.

I felt anything clear enough to see through could be a filter.  My pigs are the target once again and they came out nicely filtered by running water.

Another piggy photo with bubbles and water used as filters.  I hope the idea works for my critics looking.

This is an older photo from a Black Powder Shoot we used to frequent.  The smoke screen makes a really good filter.

Basically the same event as above.  The filter work was done with Paint Shop Pro, not a camera.

That’s it for now.  I did try a few things besides water, bubbles and glass for filters but was not happy and trashed a lot of totally cloudy images.  For now, my headache has done me in.

    Keep on taking those photos,

  • I trashed a bunch of mine also as I was playing. I’ve got a few more but haven’t posted them yet. Pup T is a great model. Nice experimentation and the bath looks wonderful.

  • That’s a good collection. I like the water coming out of the tap and the one of your hubby. Your get outs in the last one look good and the fact that you’ve filtered it on the pc has prompted me to have a go.

  • “Playing” always suggest fascinating possibilities – you’ll look at all things at least somewhat transparent a bit differently from now on.

  • I think you did very well.

  • Enjoyed the pictures.

  • The third picture is like a dream . I like much it ?
The last is very richly colored and shapes and colors make me think of a painting There is a composition in it ..

    Love

  • they are great, very clever to use the running water, i tried quite a few things to give the “smokie” effect but just got heaps of plain foggy pics

  • These were fun to see- I liked the piggy ones.

  • Very Interesting some thing I have not looked at before. I think you have done well here: Glad I did not do that challenge.

  • I especially like the one of your hubby.  It is fun to try to figure out what the “filter” is!  Thanks for your nice comments on mine.  Couldn’t think of anything else to use.  You had a lot of different ideas.  I did like your idea of using one of mine for a background.  So I used the least “busy” one, and it works well with my autumn header.  Thanks for the idea!!

  • I agree with Mimi. My favorite is of Dad through the White Castle mug, but I also like the one before of your toiletries through the crystal.

  • I liked the flour sifter pic…didn’t realize how soft it made the pic!  Good one!

  • WHITE CASTLE!!!  WHITE CASTLE!!!!  Looking through a White Castle mug is way better than rose colored glasses any old day!!
