Weekly Photo Challenge, “At the Shopping Mall”
the subject from PhotoGraphics is:
“At the Shopping Mall”
I am not an avid shopper. There was a time I enjoyed the thrill of the chase, of the elusive, perfect buy. Shopping gets old when the walking wears you out before you empty your wallet and recreational shopping has never been a pleasure. I have a shopping strategy/preference. Instead of spending money, I spend time making observations of the people, who are out and about, doing their shopping.
I am surrounded by shopping malls. From strip malls to glassed in blocks of weather proof stores, shopping is never far away. I can spend, if I choose to, any amount of money for product but my fun is viewing the money spenders through the observant eye of my camera.
Most of my photos were taken quickly and some in poor weather so excuse a bit of poor quality.
My “At the Shopping Mall”
Photo DiscoveriesI have discovered some people, no matter what their age, will shop in the rain.
And for some, shopping involves a lot of hard work.
Shopping
is often
a family oriented affair
for food, clothing or otherwise.
I have discovered, when you treat them right, husbands will do anything for you, including your shopping.
I discovered a long time ago, I like to shop for kitchen and bath items
but I enjoy shopping the most for a good meal. I have discovered ten times the shopping fun, enjoying a nice meal.
My best discovery for a day “at the shopping mall”, a face with a smile like this! I have discovered, a good meal served by a fetching young waiter, who relates to you so pleasantly you forget the chores of the shopping, is the very best part of shopping. It can, in fact, turn a tiresome day into a golden experience.
Have a super week and thank you always for your comments.

What!? I’m the 1st to comment.Where are the accolades. As always,a great post. You’ve captuerd all the elements of a typical day out beautifully.PLUS it’s your idea,so that deserves a MINI!
I hate shopping and hope it never is a Family Affair, but I know what you mean. I think it’s a woman’s thing rather than a man’s. The girls seem to enjoy it, can’t think why? As usual you have been most descriptive with your photos Becca and I can’t fault that. I have noticed that things appear quiet on Xanga this last week.
I’m not a big shopper either. I go when I need something, and prefer to get in and out as quick as possible. And I never, ever shop on the weekends when it’s really crowded, if I can avoid it.
Great post, as always!
This covers the subject perfectly Becca, great people studies, even though the man in the first pic looks like he’s been shoplifting and is making a break for it!
@Timages - Laughing at your comment Tim. My husband said similar that the man appeared to be moving on. He was older and fighting the weather/rain. He was moving pretty fast for his condition and I spotted him accidentally as I was fooling with settings on my camera. The pic was taken through the misted windshield of our car parked a fair distance away. I didn’t notice any stolen goods and think there wasn’t any unless they fit in his pockets.
I want you to know, that I have admired you since we started to converse personally. It is not simply your brilliant mind for interpretation of photography. You are wise do to life experience, but I have the feeling, in fact I know, that it is a natural wisdom that is untainted by life.
Thank you.
very nice I like the documentary touch to your photos ands your text!
@Sezwick - You spoil me with your nice comments but I have to tell you “brilliant is questionable” and I am not untainted. The world screams in so many ways for you to buy it’s hard to stay on track. Being older, it doesnt take as much to make me happy. Wondering how you are, how your job is going. I miss your photo entries but am mutually admirable of your writing and thought processing.
@relaxolgy - Thank you, I am not much of a talker in real life and hate telephones but typing my thoughts, posting dialogue along with some of my photos is something I enjoy doing.
I thought the first was of a skateboarder till I read the comments! Interesting pictures of people going shopping.
Your top picture. I was wondering how you load without parking?
@Zeal4living - it is a bit of a poorly worded sign. We all know how companies are, cheap, cheap, cheap. A sign specific in wording would cost them too much to make … We can’t have them losing money with a bigger more specific sign, less confusing to the public now can we?
Those were really nice!
