  • Weekly Photo Challenge, “Natural Beauty”

    Weekly Photo Challenge

    the subject from StormInHeavn is:

    “Natural Beauty”

My photos aren’t of recognized scenes or buildings.  They are images, similar to any you might see in your everyday world.  They aren’t a photographer’s dream.  I selected each of them because I think if you use your imaginations you can picture the image without the growth in the photo.  Most everyday landscapes would be very boring if it weren’t for trees, overgrown fields, flowers, clouds, rain, snow or whatever else nature throws our way.  Man does do some creative and at times, ingenious works but it is all more interesting, more beautiful, more photographic,  with greenery, flowers, beautiful skies or clouds, rain, sleet or snow.

    My Photos

    NaturalBeauty1.jpg

IMAGINE THIS IMAGE WITHOUT THE TREE and RED BERRIES:  A little wood siding home, not far from where I live.  It’s a cute little house but what caught my eye was the wonderful old Oak Tree sprouting it’s Spring colors with the house the backdrop, not the tree.  This tree has been entertaining the locals with it’s “natural beauty” for a very long time as it is about 7 or 8 feet around.

    NaturalBeauty3.jpg

IMAGINE THIS IMAGE WITHOUT THE EVERGREENS:  Another older home, now a business in the bike trail area of Loveland.  As cute as the building is with red painted door and shutter and a patio with a canoe decorating the side, without the trees, I probably would not have snapped this photo.  The trees “natural beauty” offered personality that called to me, sit and relax.

    NaturalBeauty2.jpg

IMAGINE THIS IMAGE WITHOUT THE GROWTH and LOOK AT THOSE CLOUDS:  These little homes are typical of the homes sitting on my street.  Obviously small, little boxes with very little eye appeal.  The flowering Crab Tree behind this one sets it off with vibrant color creating a picture that might sell the house if it were for sale.  “Natural beauty” has value.

    NaturalBeauty5.jpg

IMAGINE THIS IMAGE WITHOUT THE GROWTH and BLUE SKY:  This photo was taken from our moving car and it’s an on the side of the road scene.  The yellow school bus caught my eye so I snapped the photo.  Looking at the image trying to imagine it without the “natural beauty” of the trees and green grass, I decided it would be a very naked, unappealing photograph.

    NaturalBeauty6.jpg

IMAGINE THIS IMAGE WITHOUT THE GROWTH:  Another photo taken from the car, a rural scene of little red barns which would be very boring little red buildings without the green AND “natural beauty” surrounding them.

    NaturalBeauty4.jpg

IMAGINE THIS IMAGE WITHOUT THE STORMY SKY and WET PAVEMENT:  Without the wonderful “natural beauty” of the sky AND reflective puddles” I wouldn’t have thought to take this photo.  The shopping center offers very little to stand alone for photography.

I realize beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I can’t imagine taking or wasting film on any of these landscapes, if I took film shots, if they were not backdropped with the ”natural beauty” of growth or other gifts of nature.  The draw, in each image, was the tree or the flower or the cloudy sky, the “Natural Beauty”.

Have a great week and thanks always for your comments,

  • I love the barn photo but they are all great shots.

  • Becca, your perspective is a breath of fresh air.  Well done!!

  • Some people don’t think buildings are part of “natural beauty” but they came from the elements of this earth so .. I think they’re all natural and since there are so many now, it’s part of us and animals still live around homes and buildings, like lizards, squirrels, bunnies, etc. I like the first two the most!

  • I agree with the comment above. The nature in your photos is enhanced by the strucutures and vice versa. We live on a farly new road and all the modern bulidings are now being softened up by all the greenery springing up around them.Lovely photos, bye for now.

  • Well thought out photos Becca!

  • Natural Beauty. Truly amazing that when human beings begin to be creative, it would seem that they create in a way that fits in with the surroundings of whatever they create. You have illustrated this pretty well Becca. Sometimes I think that when you are able to appreciate the creativity of man you have found that element in all people that can be termed spiritual. Maybe that is not all of it but it is at least some way there.

  • Very good interpretation of natural beauty.

    And thanks for your comment.

  • Great pictures.

  • Great!  Neat perspective on natural beauty.  I really like that first photo.  The house sure would look bare without that neat old tree.

  • This pictures a beautiful! I especially love the first one and the one with the barns! The last one is awesome too, the sky is sooo ominous!

  • Ooops… what a terrible typo! I meant to say “these pictures,” not “this picture.” =P

  • Great shots! I agree nature brings out the beauty in everything it surrounds!

Thank you so much for the nice comment on my blog. Camping is one of my favorite get aways too!

    Hugs

  • Trees and greeneries bring a living background to the sceneries .They are a green jewelcase for the human activities .
But there are  nowadays more and more poles ( phone or power ) that bother a little the photographer and don’ t improve the sight ..

    Love

    Michel

  • I love the first, third and last pictures best because of the colours and vividness. You’re also so blessed to have a DSLR! I can only wish to have one, haha.

    Blessings,
    Addy

  • @Gill_L - Hi Gill, managing an original entry isn’t always easy.  Some of these challenge really tax the mind and I always hope I am a positive influence in some way.  Thanks so much for your support of my attempts.

@Mizmazed - Hi, I appreciate your appreciation of how nature is the source of the materials used for what man creates.  I don’t dispute man’s creativity but natural and nature come from the same root word and natural beauty includes only what nature provides.  Nature provides naturally and man creates from her provisions.

@kevrach - I agree, nature and man’s creativity often compliment each other but natural beauty is nature made, not manmade.

@point_of_no_R3turn - hi, thanks for your comment.  About typos, we all do them and I do a lot of editing in my entries because of typos or poorly thought out sentence.  I’m like you, I like perfect so forever fix what I’m unhappy with.

@fauquet - A setting I am learning to use on my camera helps to blur backgrounds for portraits.  If I get it down, some of the power lines should blur out.  I do take photos where I feel the lines are a plus to the image but I understand exactly where you are coming from.   All underground would be a good thing and I’m sure Mother Nature would appreciate it as well.

@FreeeVerse - Hi, thanks for your comment and about my DSLR, it was a gift from my family who pooled their monies to buy it for me for Christmas.  I feel blessed to have it.

  • Your pictures are fabulous, I love your perspective on “natural beauty” and the words you have added. Thank you too for visiting my page and my first attempt at the photo challenge. Regards Sue

  • interesting take on this challenge. Great job as always- I had to laugh at the way they stored the canoe!

  • Thank you for the comment ^__^ i adore your pictures, especially the first one, the leaves look like little red flowers.
