This weeks Challenge
”Moving, Rippling Waters”
I decided to attack this challenge in a single direction, all of my photos are from the little county park lake we visit frequently, Lake Isabella. With as little dialogue as possible,
My Photos
This photo was taken in the Winter and the lake ripples are kicked up by the breezes that cross the lake. Isabella isn’t our most beautiful or largest county park but it is close to home and it offers nice sunny picnic spots and open views of the men who come to fish.
Early in March of 2008, Isabella flooded. The waters missed entering the boathouse by inches and the water stayed high for months.
Fishermen could care less about floods, they put on their waders, make a seat of water covered picnic benches, throw in their lines and make ripples.
Ducks don’t care about floods either, they move about the water making graceful waves and ripples as they go.
Little Boys are a different story. The waves and ripples they make are with rocks making a contest of a good aim to either take out a fish or a duck or each other.
Some little guys just like to splash around.
When the water is near glassy smooth, most ripple-makers are gone home for the night.
But the real fisherman, he will fish late into the night for the fish you see on the line, its head just breaking the water. We all know the best part of fishing is the fight and the wildly splashing, rippling waters.
I would love to throw in a line and sit day and night by a fire but I am just as happy staring into the soft wavy waters under the deck of the boathouse, watching the reflections roll.

Beautiful, as always. I love water and could sit near it and do nothing all day but listen to the waves lapping on the shore.
thanks for the challenge. i absolutely love the fisher fellow sitting on the drowned pier with his tush in water-well almost. the other photo that is great is the played with image with the ripples added, lovely.
Your photos always take me on a pleasant journey.
#9 is a shot of glistening beauty. Since this challenge, I find myself looking more and more into the ripples. Change in the air, or maybe focus calls my name. No matter. Both are a gift that keeps on giving.
Wow ~ just totally awesome!!!!! Love the reflections in the water. I love the second one…..the ripples on the water….the two boats on the glassy water……man, they are all gorgeous….love your graphics!!!!!! Thank you for calling me on over!

Water, water everywhere! great selection Becca , there are so many different ways to look at water shots, i really like what you did with Tims pic,
Beautiful photos!
Great pictures. I like taking pictures, but don’t really have time to do much with it right now. I do get a good one unintentionally now and again.
I saw your Idea. I wrote a similar one some time ago, as have others, but I wonder if they really want the page visible. Some Ideas get a bunch of votes, but yet they do nothing. I wonder if it is merely to appease the masses…
@cwjphotos - hi, actually, I think they want to improve and they can’t brainstorm everything. My experience is they do a lot of upgrading and trashing of old bad ideas. I would hope they are serious and want suggestions. They need all the help they can get and we are FREE. Yep, the ideas needs to be more visible for sure. Some nice pictures here. I really like the seventh: the two boats in the still water. That one is my favorite. I also like the edited picture of the two boys.
These are so beautiful. I love the graphic of the boy sin the boat with the beautiful yellow fall colored trees, and the colored ripples in the water.
Beautiful.
Nice collection! I love the colours in the last two and I think my overall favourite is the penultimate with the lovely blue and green ripples.
Very nice! I especially liked the little boy on the water and the two kids in the boat.
Well this is right on theme as usual Becca. Love the quality of your photos and the dedication through which you edit them, beautiful job of that challenge that I put up. Really nice! —Tim
A story of bad, turning it to something of beauty..You do such great work….I love the water….The children really add to the photos….Love them all…
I missed this post Becca. However i cheked here some times . But never to late to do well . Your photos are very suggestive and what struck me are the ripples : those smaùù waves , circular or not . They show the water is an special and sensible element .
I like espreciall the photo under the deck and the following with the two men in a boat .
I hope you had the best Christmas possible and I thank you again for the e;card .
Love
