the Weekly Photo Challenge
It runs for one full week from Friday mornings to late Thursday nights. The challenge beginning June 27, 2010 is:“Summer Heat”
suggested by Reed44A good 4th of July to everyone.
We have a lot of Summer going on here. It’s been very hot a lot but luckily we have had breaks from it too.
So far, Summer has been supplying some varied ways to forget about the Summer Heat.
Some Photos
1- Impatiens don’t like the heat so to prevent wilting you turn on the spray and let the breeze carry a little of the mist to cool you off.
2- Husbands play in bigger sprays of water when the Summer heat nears unbearable.
3- The Summer heat has not stopped these beach ball players. The facility is brand new and only a couple of blocks away. You can see by the activity it’s being enjoyed.
4- This little princess was dressed for the Summer heat. She was at Isabella this weekend for the friday night cook out and a candid photo.
5- Other children and parents played in the shade on some new gym equipment the park put up this Spring.
6- There is a BarBQ on Friday nights in the Summer. We go to eat and to listen to entertainment. This is Katie Pritchard and she has a lovely voice and a nice list of vocals you can choose from to hear. We enjoyed her singing and playing and it was a wonderful way to beat the Summer Heat, sitting under the new red awning I forgot to photograph. It’s reflecting off Katie in the photo even so, she was a photogenic view. You can get more information about her at http://katiepritchard.com
Have a great week and I hope you are staying cool and beating the Summer Heat.

Nice post Becca, and you have helped me a bit i couldn’t work out why my Busy Lizzy was not growing so well so i’ll give it a light spray and see what happens, i keep it well watered but i didn’t think about damping the leaves, have a great independence day!!
@Timages - I haven’t a clue what kind of plant you have but it sounds like fun. If it’s well watered and not responding, maybe it has too much water. I do think plants like their leaves wetted down off and on. Let me know what a Busy Lizzy is.
Summer pleasures :
Happy 4th of July, Becka and John .
Thanks for the e.card that I have just received .
Love
michel
We all could use a light cool spray in the heat. Might improve our outlook. Nice shots. I’m clicking the link to go hear Katie. Have a great day.
It looks like you enjoyed the weekend, hot though it was. Your flowers have grown a lot
Incredible how we seem to echo the weather in Ohio at times. Already we are threatened with possible hose pipe bans. Nice to see Halie commenting in Xanga. I wish she we post some pics of her Harley Dividson, that would be interesting. Great post Becca bang on theme as usual. I wonder what John is spraying, or is he just directing the spray up into the trees and standing in the fall out? ~ Tim
@fauquet - Hi Michel, I’m glad you enjoy the cards, It is a way to see what happens in my part of the world per a holiday.
@Jaynebug - I think there are several links to hear Katie play on her site. She is enjoyable to listen to and I hope to catch her again this Summer.
@halie - Last years plants, ours this year are behind as usual because of new roof and gutters where the men have tromped all of my woodland flowers down. I hope they come back. It would be nice to get plants in early so we could enjoy them longer. I wonder if it will happen this next time, 2011.
@tim_beddard - Hi Tim, yes our weather seems to track in a circle from your place to ours. John is spraying water and just playing in it. It’s hard to get him to play in water so he wanted to surprise me with some photo takes.
@PhotoGraphics - I followed the link. She has a lovely voice.
These are wonderful summer photos.
@Jaynebug - Yes she does have a good voice, maybe not good enough to make a mint but wishing I could sing as nice. My voice isn’t much
@styx_site - Thank you, I’m always glad to get something besides a car driving down the highway, something different to show.
@PhotoGraphics - I do sing and would love to sing with her. (toothy smile) I’m on my way up to Hearst Castle for an annual event. Got my camera ready to roll.
Looks like your area has been busy with a new park and a new beachball err… pitch? fake-beach? giant sand pit?
I enjoyed looking at your pictures. =D
@icecradle - Yes, the sandy inland beach for, I guess it’s beach volley ball, was built and in use before I even knew something was going to built in the spot. It’s nice to see something other than a building front and the spot gives me something else to photograph which is always nice. Thanks for stopping. Becca
Ah, the sprinkler, the poor man’s water park.
Number 2 absolutly captures for me the essence of this challenge. Number 4 is as a photo a winner. I think children always tell a story.
Nothing like a good sprinkling! Especially after mowing the lawn.
@sir_spamalot - You are so right per the poor man’s water park. Your comment set me to wondering just how many little gadgets we have purchased over the years to entertain kids when we had them and of course the few flowers or lawn that we have. If you could set the temperature for the water it might not be too bad but even in the hot summer freezing cold water from the hose gives me a big chill. Thanks for taking time to comment.
@Zeal4living - Thank you so much as always for your visits to comment. I am very much like you and wish I could get more photos of children. I love catching kids in my photos but always the candid’s and hoping no one ever jumps me for taking the shots. As no faces are shown I take the chance when I see it. She was a darling.
@fetherland - Yep, and we can use some rain here or starting to get that way so sprinkling. Some of the flowers we have won’t go long without. I need to discover better ways to keep the plants happy.. We had a lot of rain especially at night a few weeks back but it’s all passing us by lately. Rain has its fickle moments. Thanks for popping in.
