the Weekly Photo Challenge
It runs for one full week from Friday mornings to late Thursday nights. The challenge beginning September 03, 2010 is:“Anything made of Rubber”
suggested by me: Styx_SiteThis was an interesting challenge. I don’t often think about what many things are made of. Here are a couple of links for rubber information I found interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_rubber and http://www.iisrp.com/synthetic-rubber.html. The second link has links on the right side of the page for more info.
Some Photos
With the number of cars here in the states running on every highway it’s good to know rubber is a pretty dependable product.
From bicycles to wheelbarrows to baby buggys, tires are made of rubber. From the narrow bicycle wheel to
the small wheels on small tractors
to the standard size wheels on cars (all dependent on the size of the car)
To the giant tires on giant machinery, rubber is the product of choice to make tires/tyres. Rubber is in myriad products we use every day and I had no idea how much until I read the info on the links I put in above. Take a minute to follow the links for reading and see for yourself.
Have a great week and Thanks for any visits or comments. They are appreciated.

Excellent photos for this topic.
Great pictures! When I first saw the topic for the week, “Rubberband Man” popped into my head and won’t leave…
hey now, prepare yourself for the Rubberband Man…..
@fauquet - Hi Michel, Yes, I have heard about traffic in the U.K., France and Germany. Also about the speeds on the autoban (not sure I’ve spelled it right.) We also have those mountains of used tires you mention here, in salvage yards and an interesting thing, a lot of craftspeople find uses for recycling them. I own door mats made from used tires and boy are they tough. They will outlast me and anyone else who uses them. I’ve often wondered what else can be done with them. One other thing I have seen and it woks very well, used tires lying on their sides then filled with dirt and flowers planted in them. They don’t look bad and they work well.
@grannyinboxers - Thank you for stopping by and commenting.
@ziggswife - Hi, good to see you and I’ll check to see if that rubberband man is up. If not, I’ll be checking back until he shows.
Some thought and work was put in your choices! Great pics!
@ggily - A nice surprise to see someone take a peek at an older entry. Thanks much for scrolling the page to find something of interest. I do have fun with my pages and do try to make them somewhat interesting. I’m not always sure it happens. Thanks again for your comments. Becca
Once agian you take us through an array of super photography on the move. I think few have had your experience of taking shots whilst on the move. The top two are classic and as usual bang on theme. ~ Tim
@tim_beddard - Yep Tim, I get a lot of practice taking photos from a moving car. Sometimes we are sitting at a corner or stoplight so some takes are better from the car than others. I had fun with this theme for rubber. The link I put in was interesting reading. Becca
