  • Yellow is the word of the day

Every week there is a different photo challenge at this site:  http://mywinningphoto.xanga.com/  It gives you a way to play with your photos and interact with other photographers on Xanga.  This week, the word is YELLOW.  You can see the entries for YELLOW by following the above link.

NEXT WEEK’S CHALLENGE IS “COOKING” however you would like to inperpret the idea.

One of the rules, POST ONLY PHOTOS TAKEN THE WEEK BEFORE THEY ARE DISPLAYED ON THE SITE PAGES.

Here are some older photos of mine that would have worked for YELLOW if they had been taken THE WEEK OF.

1-  Here you see a really fun yellow gym-set at our local park, Isabella.  I might have called this photo Yellow Gym-Set but instead I thought “Guardian of the Family Jewels” was more appropriate.  Grandfather never left them for a moment and Grandmother is sitting on a bench at their far left taking in all of the activities.  I wanted to focus on grandpa and his charges so Grandmother (who is very lovely) was removed for use at some other time.

2-  This photo is nearly at my doorstep, just the other side of our hedges.  New sidewalk squares were ordered by the city on our street.  I had a great time photographing the whole business and called this one ”Jack Hammer”.  If you look carefully, you can see “Jack” inside his protected cage, hiding from all paparazzi.

3-  Most of you know I take a lot of photos from the inside of our car as we travel.  This one is not far from home and the wonderful golden yellow reflections during this evening rain were irresistible.

Xanga is changing.  So many people seem to have gone from this wonderful blogging site.  It’s really too bad as I think it’s still the very best one.

    Have a super week people.

  • I like that these pics are not Totally yellow!! esp like the last one with the signs and wet pavement. I would join the photo challege, except that this one is so complicated to deal with. :) Keep on keepin’ on!! :)

  • @guestbrief - Really isn’t all that hard after the first time.  Just upload the photo to photo bucked and name it then send email to her with names, yours, your site and the image.  It seemed hard to me also but after doing it and saving short cuts and you can even save an email with all your info in it except for photo name to make it easier.  It’s a way to play a bit.  Would love to see you play.  If not, stop by to see what people are doing and drop a vote into the comment.

Many thanks for your comment.  Xanga is becoming very ghost town like.  :(

  • Did you already have a photo bucket account? I’ve never used it… but I’ll think about it. :)

  • @guestbrief -  You don’t have to have an account of your own on photobucket to play with the photo contest, only using the account and password that was created for the winningphoto challenge. I did have a photbucket account years ago.  I never used it much and am pretty sure nothing I ever loaded up to it would be there if I looked.  Hoping not, actually.  :)

  • The third photo is the one I like the most so much it is surprising , unexpected . There is also a harmony of colors . Well done Becca .
Yes many Xangans are on facebook but Xanga is a true blog  and not only a social net ( that it is however )

  • RYC : I have been interested by you comment about the choir .Yes in a choir a voice is a voice and no one is perfect in singing ; But to be mixed in a group of voices is so up lifting;

  • @fauquet - Yes, a voice is only a voice but together they are one many faceted instrument.  It has always fascinated me to watch the conductor as he plays his instrument of choice as he faces it whether it be a choir or the whole of an orchestra.  His ears design it all to the best of his abilities to make the sound coming to us, one whole magnificent blend of sound that he hopes we will hear in the same way he does.  Some of it can nearly make you swoon.  The same goes for some of the operatic voices.  I nearly cry (in fact do cry) listening to some of the aurias.

  • The response for the yellow contest may be the best yet… certainly getting plenty of attention.

  • Thank you Becca for the funny message about the pets !!
