… Baby Love …
I needed to scan photos to do this challenge and am a little bit late getting them done. There are no babies anymore but I do have photos. My baby is 36 this year and my only grand baby is 15.
Like all mother’s, I thought my babies were beautiful.
Concentrating on Halie, our second child. She is only weeks old in this photo. She weighed in at 7# 13 and a half ounces. Her brother, 6 years older, weighed in at 7# 6 oz.
She is just old enough to hold her head up and it’s filled with the rings of curls she was born with.
As an adult, I would call Halie a dead ringer for Carol Burnett and that means personality as well. She still has gorgeous curls which she hates.
This is Halie’s only child, my grand daughter, Eden. She loves to hear me tell the story that she was the smallest baby I had ever seen. She weighed about 5#. Her head was no bigger than a small apple when she was born and that’s the truth. I can tell you that a couple of pounds makes one huge difference in the size of a baby. She was born with the same full head of dark hair as her mom had been.
Still petite, Eden is about 3 here. We were visiting Halie and family in Virginia and of all things, it snowed, very unusual. Her daddy didn’t want her out playing in it but I held her and swung her out the patio door while in my arms and she would reach and gather the snow. We put it the cake pan and made a snowman. It was in the freezer for a good while and boy did we have fun.
We would bring Eden home with us as often as possible. This photo was taken at Easter time at my sister’s home in Columbus, Ohio. There are always toys for kids to play on in her yard. Lots of church functions go on there and the little guys have plenty to play with.
A collage’ of Eden I have posted before. She is a VIP in our eyes. She has been living in Spain for the last 3 years but she and her mom are home now, only arriving this past week. Her daddy will be home in a couple of weeks. Loving all my babies, I am anxious to set up a trip to Virginia.
Keep on taking those photos,

… The Best Of …
comes from Weekly Photo Challenge as it is the one year anniversary of the challenge blog.
I have taken a lot of photos. I am not sure what I would call my favorite and, I have no photos of me that are worth posting. I am not photogenic. Anyway, just a couple of photos I have taken that I feel good enough about that I would call them favorites.
Inside the Covered Bridge, Eastern Ohio
Railway Station, Loveland, Ohio
A day of family fishing, Lake Isabelle County Park, Loveland, Ohio. This photo was of course taken incognito as I am sure this family would not have posed for me. I sit in the car and just watch and get shots from a distance.
Bloodroot in my side yard.
Cemetery pond, Cyprus Knees
This is one of my grab it while it’s hot fly-by-photos. Not the best but you only get one chance. I’m pretty good at catching some of the unusual from the car window.
One of my very favs seen on my blog before but I’ll pop it in as an Anniversary Favorite. My granddaughter in the Apple tree. She is tired of seeing it and I never tire of it. I guess that makes us about even.
Everyone has a nice photo of themselves and I really don’t. So as not to be a real party poop, here I am impersonating a pumpkin. That’s the best shot you are going to get for now.
Enough for the week. Keep on taking those photos.

… The Kitchen …
comes from photomomma24I really am sorry I am not with it this week as I am still sick and not real oriented. I have a lousy kitchen. It’s small and disorganized, the type you don’t want to show anyone.
Now, just because I don’t have a great kitchen doesn’t mean I don’t have some photos. I have a few that will work pretty well. We visited some of the old diners on a trip we took and had a great time as the owner was so nice.
What you see is my husband behind the grill in the diner, working away. My dream, a handsome man and a stainless steel kitchen with a big grill.
Just because I have a lousy kitchen doesn’t mean I don’t or can’t cook. I love taking photos of food. A modified title for the week, “Food from The Kitchen” and this work of art is a Mexican corn bread, very tasty. My latte mug is filled with coffee from my french press and served with a lot of cream. That is just how I like it. This cornbread was mentioned in my comments several times and the recipe is very good. Here’s the recipe …
~Absolute Best Mexican Cornbread
found on the internet and had been Submitted by: Judy Spence
Original recipe yield: 6 servings.
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter, melted
1 cup white sugar
4 eggs
1 (15 ounce) can cream-style corn
1/2 (4 ounce) can chopped green chile peppers, drained
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup yellow cornmeal
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon saltDIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, beat together butter and sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time. Blend in cream corn, chiles, Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese.
In a separate bowl, stir together flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt. Add flour mixture to corn mixture; stir until smooth. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour, until a toothpick inserted into center of the pan comes out clean.
(Becca’s preference for cooking: use a deep iron skillet, grease it and put it into the oven to get hot while preparing the batter. Pour the batter into the hot skillet for a crisp browned crust and adjust the cooking time by watching and checking with a toothpick.) The cheese topping in the photo is the jarred cheese spread, called “Salsa Con Queso” your favorite will work fine.My favorite kitchen, the outdoors. Plenty of help husking the corn makes it even nicer.
The best part of an outdoor kitchen is the roast and this one is a biggy. I can tell you it was tasty. The real word, he was a delicious work of food art.
That’s it, have a good week and don’t eat too much. I’ll be working on recuperation.

Preventing total wind down isn’t easy. I’m tired and imagine a lot of you out there in Xangaland are as well. Something happens to us in the winter. We shiver and freeze, need more sleep, and the sneezes aren’t usually far behind. I have one of my really good (meaning bad.d.d.d) sore throats this week. I haven’t had one for a while and when I do have one, I keep the Altoid mint people in cash flow.
It so happens I like taking photos of bugs and creepy crawlers so I have a few things for this week but I’ll make it all easy for myself using headers from my cache and short and sweet for you, only photos and no more dialogue. I need a nap.

I have a photographic interest in fuzzy, creepy, crawlies myself. I enjoy trying for good close ups that show off the color and texture of little things with lots of legs. I hope to add more to my collection.
