    Neighborhood, Wild Animals …

There is a prevalence of smaller wild things around us but they aren’t for making a big display of themselves.  Most of the wild things in our neighborhood and in the greater Cincinnati area come on two feet and carry guns and knives and sell drugs.  We avoid direct contact preferring to stay as out of the way as possible  Our preference is the squirrels and birds and racoons and opossum and even some deer who manage to hide well among the vegetation that exists within city limits.  My squirrels come from a trip we made to our zoo and you can see from the photos just how wild they are.  They know where handouts come from.

It took this squirrel less time to approach and attack our bags we had carried in with our store of munchies than it took for us to turn our backs to be taking other photos.

Notice his laid back ears, an indication he plans on letting us know who is boss if we come any closer with our camera.

Having made his getaway with some cornchips he wrestled from our pack he sat eyeing us from the trees.

My photos though repeats are indicative of what can be found around us.  Maybe I’ll catch something different and more exciting this new Spring and Summer season.

I wasn’t sure I had any strange, weird or ”unusual” photos.  I’m not the funniest person walking but on looking I discovered I do have a few pics that fit the mold.  I have a much weirder side than I thought

    WeirdAndFunny1

A conglomerate or collage of “THE WEIRD OR STRANGE” stuff, a chicken sandwich that when I opened it I couldn’t help but notice its shape and I have a fixation for feet having quite a few photos of my painted pigs, the sign struck John and I both as interesting and the bottom right looks like my sandwich.  I won’t name names.  The party favors were just plain fun.

This photo is the ”FUN or OUT OF THE ORDINARY”, a mix from an experience we had several years ago.  All in all it covered a total of about 7 weeks from nest building to laying to sitting to hatching to feeding to fledglings.  Notice the hardhat and the coat over the head.  We were reduced to that condition in the later weeks as each time we opened our door about 6 feet from the nest we were told in no uncertain terms we weren’t welcome.  It was a great  experience we hoped would repeat itself but the birds learned in that single season they weren’t happy with the location.  Our mailman also won’t forget the occassion, he quit delivering our mail until we reported the coast as clear of any danger.

Have a great week and keep on taking those photos.

I think birds are in big trouble.  When I think about them now I am wondering just what they will be going thru very soon with the bird flu.  I think how much I love seeing everything about them and what distress people and birds are and will be going thru.  Birds bring a lot of joy into my life flying about in the wild.  My window is open almost year round if only a crack and I hear the Canadian Geese fly over every morning honking me into the land of the awake.

I think about people like Cybernene who spend hours trying to help birds survive and pray all involved in saving them will stay well.  Myself, I couldn’t live happily in a world without birds and other animal life.  I need the view of of nature to make me realize the feel of powers greater than man can ever be.

A few of my photos you may or may not have seen before.

We have a fair amount of Canadian Geese making their home in our area.  Michner’s book Chesapeake tell of flocks so large the sky is black.  Man has done a lot to see that it isn’t that way anymore.

This is taken at a favorite cemetery whose grounds are so beautiful I can’t imagine anyone not wanting a resting spot there.  I will be cremated and strewn about on the grounds or my real wish is to be thrown from “the bridge” in The Bridges of Madison County.  We don’t live far from it and my husband knows what I want.

Another from the cemetery.  I could spend a lot of hours there and have not been for a while.

From our Cincinnati Zoo comes these Peacock photos.  I had to fight off an obnoxious child who was determined to ruin my photos.  I am very happy with about 20 really fine ones I took.  Fooled him.

As beautiful from the rear as he is from the front, the white puffs look as soft as soft might ever be.

Not forgetting the smallest who make their homes nearby, I always wonder how they make it thru the winters.

I have done a few rescues in my life.  I have saved quite a few turtles, a cow, many small birds, taken in my share of stray dogs and cats and this seagull would have been dead if not for a rescue I made with the help of sister and husband.

That’s it, have a wonderful week and an Easter filled with blessings.

    Keep on taking those photos,

    “CANDID … CAMERA …

Candid, in the real expose’, photos taken un-be-knownst or very quick studies; point-shoot-n-hope.

I have taken some not so great candid shots and a few that were great to catch. I think non-posed captures produce some of the greatest images.  For some subjects, like myself, you can only take those candid shots to produce anything decent.  I freeze and take horrible photos.  It takes all my will power to put photos of myself on the blogs.  I’m a Wilson type.  When my husband is in control of the camera he has strict direction to take a lot while I’m not looking in hopes of something decent.

Some of my best candid shots taken at Friendship Flea market.  The market is held at the same time as a blackpowder shoot.  The market has a nightly and weekend dance/bonfire where some of the dancing couples catch your eye.  Some conglomerates of my favorite couples.

All of the couples knew photos were being taken but not who or when.

These were fun to take, fun to put together and I love seeing these beautiful couples enjoying the company of each other.  Some are husband and wife, grandfather and grand daughter and just good friends.  It’s a great feeling to see them dancing.

    Have a super week,
