     “Love is … “

Hello Xanga … I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas experience and a good entry into the New Year.  Our New Year started with a bang I hope continues.

I am Playing catch up after our trip to and back home again from our Christmas visit in Virginia with daughter Halie and her family.  The trip was great, the visit was great, Christmas was wonderful, Santa was more than generous, the food was great and the reining Yahtzee champion is my granddaughter, Eden.

I managed to comment on all sites with entries on the previous post “In Your Bowls” but here it is, ‘Friday again’.  I am one challenge and comments for it, behind.  SO, I am posting 2 entries, one for “Love Is …” and a second for “Absence of Color” and I will visit pages to see photos for both.  I have a lot of catching up to do.

    ANOTHER BIG
     HAPPY NEW YEAR
    to all.

My photos for  “Love Is …”

Love is … what you get from a special pet.
Ralphie: a rescued cat from Spain and very sweet.  Halie says he is slow but I think laid back might be a good word for him.  He was a rescued cat and was brought to the states after a finished tour of Navy duty.  All pets on this page, except for Apple, were rescued in Spain and brought home with their rescue family, my daughter and her husband and my grand daughter.  Between the pets and the people, there is a lot of loving going on.

Rusty, a cat’s cat is a bit on the onery side.

    LoveIs-3bl_Apple_RSBlain.jpg

Apple, a rescued Chihuahua from a Virginia shelter is about as sweet as they come.  She is filled with kisses and would give hugs if she could.

    LoveIs-4bl_IndiaAndEspana_RSBlain.jpg

India and Espanya, both rescued pets from Spain.  They can outrun almost anything and they are filled with devotion and have very loving personalities.

From experience gained, all of these pets are special and the dogs are so filled with giving you can’t help but fall in love with them all.  Love is … where you find it and with really nice pets, love overflows.

     “Absence of Color”

    My Photos

The direction was, take a photo of something colorful but post it in black and white.

I decided to go with a graphic made from five of my photos of the same pets above.  As they (the dogs and cats) are never still to the point you can get a photo with them all, this is the next best thing.

  • Love your compilation photo…and you do really miss the color of your pets! Great shots!

  • The absence of color pic really is very striking. I like the “almost” eye contact between the cat and dog in the center.

  • Firstly welcome back Becca.  Missed your thoughtful comments whilst you were away visiting Halie.  Sounds like you all had a wonderful time together.

The pets are gorgeous I have a soft spot for stripy cats, the chihuahua is a darling but the photos of Espanya and India are amazing.  Those eyes, wow!!

I love your entry for this week and how you have included every fur baby – super!!

  • Your pets are beautiful. Wonderful photos!

  • I especially love India’s markings and the collar you have chosen for her (?) to wear- in black and white it is riveting!

  • It looks like you’re having loads of fun with your images in PSP. The dogs and cats do give us a lot to work with. It’s nice to have them around to model

Now that our visit is over and you’ve gone home, the house is quiet. I think the pets miss all the noise and activity. It seems they love you, too.

  • I would LOVE to have a Greyhound. I just fell in love with a dark gray velvet one at an adoption but it isn’t feasible to have on on a farm where they can really take off running.

  • Your pets are absolutely beautiful.

Great photos with and without color.

  • welcome back Becca, cant stay long or i might get booted off line, big problems with our connect here, nice two photo challenges!

  • Hi Becky, and welcome back to the land of dreams!I see you have been busy with the new Camera whist at Halie’s. What a gallery of lovely masking. Had a job finding the comments, but got there in the end. Lovely work!

  • I love the way you’ve combined the photos you’ve taken into one image.  Very nice!!

  • All of your photos are beautiful.  :o )

  • Hi Becca!
Thank you so much for your comment! My daughter also has her Christmas Tree all the year, but changes its decoration, for instances according to seasons. My grandsons draw or paint flowers and hang them for Spring etc. It’s nice having the Tree alive all year around.
Your pets are great. Did your Galgos came from the races?
I know they are often abandoned if they don’t show up the results the owners expect of if they are old… It’s a sad thing…
At Portugal there are not organized races with bets. Just “informal” ones.
At South, at Alentejo, there are several persons who raise Galgos and the races goes on like this: a hare is released and the Galgos follow. Win the dog that catches.
Galgos also are used both in South Portugal and Spain for hunting hares on horseback.
It’s the favorite dog at Alentejo for hunting.
    Have a great weekend!

  • Had to come back and take a look at this work of art! Some real top art here Becca. India is looking so regal and dignified. Rusty and Apple nose to nose made me laugh- looks like a bit of snobbery on the part of Rusty as much to say, “Do I have to put up with you” attitude.

  • Truly beautiful pictures.  I love them all!!!

  • ..i am going to be a little bit critical, but in a positive way.. often i love your shots, but for me the photoshop enduced backgrounds and frames often take away from the focus of the picture for me.. your photos are good enough to stand alone :)

  • Nice pics but I tend to agree with Porchswingpoet…the frames detract for me – especially the first set. I like what you’ve done with the B+W.

  • In the first post I have been amazed by the two greahounds together . At first i had the impressionn there was only one with a mirror behind .

About black and white , why don’ t you post the wonderful collage with all of my family you sent to me , Becca . . This is ealy an art work .

Byt the way my DIL  Marina is not well in spite she was with us at Christmas . Her tumor at the pleura has restarted and she got now metastases in the brain . This last day she was sufering much . I am sad but keep hope ..

    Love

    Michel

  • It is very tough to get them all together so I agree, a collage is the best way to accomplish that. I really like it in black and white too.

  • Hi, I’m late in getting around to visit all of the ArtRage Challenge entries. Your images of “Love” are so sweet. The collage you made is really nice as well. Thank you for joining the blog ring too!
P.S. I finally have a new topic up for January

  • Hi Becca!

Thank you for your nice comment!

I like very much your composition. Mainly the way Rhalphie and Apple look each other!

    Congratulations!

    Isabel

  • Great pics, I like how you collage them!

  • Your greyhounds are soooo beautiful! But I love the way Rusty and Apple seem to be conversing.

  • very nice, my feeling now just “very nice” photos

  • @Sabrana - Thanks for your comment, I appreciate your taking the time to look back through my posts.   I enjoy playing with my photos and the absense of color Weekly Challenge entry was especially fun to do.

    Becca
