“Water for Recreation”
If there is a common denominator for water recreation around the world I would have to say it would be bathing. Everyone loves a tub of hot water. As the only tub bath photos I have are of my feet, I’ll bypass the common denominator.
My Photos

Lake Isabella 1
We have a lot of very nice Hamilton County parks in our area. Water recreation is included at all of them. The closest to our home is Lake Isabella only 3 miles down the road. We visit often when the weather is nice and sometimes when it isn’t. It’s a small park where you can do about anything except golf, hunt or swim. We like to feed the ducks and talk about the lack of concern for the park. Fishermen are a pretty messy bunch who appear to care little about the tangle of line they leave on the shore and in the water. We have coveted several fat geese for our table we have seen tangled. So far someone else has managed to get to the trapped birds or maybe a fox.

Lake Isabella 2
The lake is stocked with fish at least twice a year and rain, sleet and snow you may see recreational fishermen on the shores of the lake with lines thrown in while toasting their feet at a recreational fire.

Sharon Woods Hamilton County Park is larger than Isabella and includes a much larger lake for water recreation. It has peddle boats for rent and motorized cruise boats besides row boats for fishing. They have a wonderful golf course and a city of historic buildings decorated at Christmas but available for view year round during special park hours. There is a nice museum and always nature classes.

This view shows a fisherman enjoying water recreation on the Ohio river as seen from Woodland Mound Hamilton County park.

This is Rocky Fork lake in Hillsboro, Ohio. Lots of swimming goes on in the hot months as well as boating and camping.

This is a normal hot afternoon of recreational water play in the lake at Rocky Fork

Recreational fishing doesn’t just happen at the lake. Some of my best photos came from here on the river in Rockford, Illinois where the locals picnic on the banks while they fish. Lots of broken glass keep you from running barefoot but no one fishing seems to mind.

A repeat performance of this photo I caught from the overhead bridge at Friendship, Indiana. The day was hotter than Hades and the water was nice. Kids always know where to find water recreation and when to enjoy it.

My grand daughter began swimming on teams while in Spain. She brought the interest back home to the states so she now swims on her team at Princess Anne School in Virginia. I took the photo but haven’t a clue if she is in the pic. I couldn’t tell her from Adam or other swimmers in the water.

Another repeat, this is Eden transposed from a shot her mom took in Spain during a swim meet. I transposed Halie’s photo to one I took in the USA at a little spot on the Miami River.

An Ashland, Kentucky view taken in 2005 while visiting Xanga’s Wordwarrior39. Jim likes to write so he enjoys creative writing in little spots used by water recreation advocates.

This view also from our Ashland trip. My water recreation comes in the form of taking photos.

This family enjoys looking at the water as they rest a little from their biking. I caught them at the overlook in Eden Park in Cincinnati.

My taking photos of all the wet stuff I can find along with whatever comes along on the ride is a tremendous recreation for me. This shot has probably been documented by the millions by previous camera buffs but today, it’s mine taken as a practice shot. I looked at the hills and little homes and thought “Christmas Village”.

One last image for the road and I’ll put this entry to bed like the boats in the harbor. Sails unfurled they sleep fitfully waiting for boating weather or sooner. Water recreation advocates can’t be tied up for long.
Keep on taking those photos,
