  • Weekly Photo Challenge, “Nuts”

    Weekly Photo Challenge

    the subject from ThePorchswingpoet is:

     ”Nuts”

I have decided to interpret “Nuts” as “Nuts or Crazy About” as I am “Nuts” about some things.  For instance, I am nuts about Fresh Strawberry Pie, Movies, Photography and comfortable chairs.  For this challenge,

    I am
    “Nuts About” COLOR

    Some of my Photos

I am limiting what I put into this entry as I think there are people who do the challenge who can’t load my pages.

All of my pics in this entry have been played with to enhance their appearance with what I call “story book colors”.

I tend to look for color I am “NUTS About” when out with my camera.  This is a jeep hill climb.  I loved the color of the autos in the track plus the colors of our flag flying as part of the view.

I took this photo on the 4th of July, 2003 in downtown Loveland.  There is always a lot of color on the 4th and I’m crazy “NUTS About” the colorful fireworks and parades.

I hunt for McDonald’s Restaurants as I am “NUTS About” their bright colors.  They always fly the flag here in the states which makes me happy.  I am assuming they fly flags for all the different countries they do business in.

The yellow school bus never goes by without me trying for snap shots.  I have loads of photos with them as I am really “NUTS About” their bright yellow color.

Hoping my colors weren’t too off the wall for the viewer.  I really don’t want to appear “NUTS” in my entries, just colorful.

Have a great week and keep on taking those photos.

  • oh I like this interpretation! I’ll have to share what I’m nuts about because I’m not sure where my actual nut shots are!   your photos are fun!

  • The storybook colours work very well, I especially like the school bus too, it’s good enough to eat!

    Photonutters unite!

  • I too love color so really really enjoyed your take on the subject. You gave me some ideas too.

  • Great colorful photos!

  • Very nice interpretation!

  • Beautifully bright!! I love primary colours.

  • OK, you win the creativity award!!! I love color too!

  • beautiful colors and great photos.

  • I like your interpretation on the subject!!! I think my favorite photo would have to be the McDonalds one because of how it illuminates in the dark. I have lived in 4 different countries and I have not seen a flag been flown in front of a McDonalds.

  • @destination_34s - Re: flags at McDonalds.  That is most interesting.  I take a lot of McDonalds photos wherever I find them and believe everyone of them flys the United States flag.  I will have to watch carefully to see if what I am saying is true as you have peeked my interest even more for the McDonalds here.  Thanks for your input per flags.

  • I love that 4th of July shot – and yes… I’m just learning to play around with photoshop. That is quite fun!

  • Wonderful!  I love what you did with the McDonald’s picture!

  • What a tremendous variety of Colour and activities. Interesting interpretation that one. You never cease to surprise me Becca!

  • What a “nutty” post.  I really like it and the colors made me so happy.  Thanks

  • That’s a great technique. Really gives a different perspctive to everyday subjects.

  • I thought about photographing my nuts – the ones staring back at me from my cereal bowl this morning, but I’ve done that before, so it was great to come across your pics early on. Lovely bright colours – the one of the old shop has an illustrative feel to it. Now, I need to go and figure out what I’m going to photograph today for the Challenge.

  • Love all these, i like the “cartoony” effect,

  • Great color, today also want to have some in colorful. Unfortunately weather continue not good…..

  • Love the affect on the McDonalds shot!

RYC: Things have changed a bit. Both of my daughters worked in a hardware store through high school. And one took four years of Theater Technician, which included using all sorts of sharp power tools. She loved it!

  • RYC: Thank you so much for the nice and lengthy comment!

I have to go back to that schoolbus shot. It just really intrigues me. The way it fills out the whole frame and is completely in the foreground, but the background is essential as well. It looks like a postcard – or like an ad for schoolbusses! How’d you do that? LOL!

  • I think they are wonderfully fun!!

  • @assipassi - The photo of the schoolbus was taken from inside my car, viewing it thru the front windshield.  I never know what I will see when we are out and we were looking for fall color on the day of the photo.  The bus was moving so had to take the photo fast and hope for the best.   I was fortunate the photo was pretty good.  I cropped most of what was around the bus and played with whatever it needed in Paint Shop Pro.  I loaded up the complete photo, sized down so you can see it and its problems.  Here is the link to view it:  CLICK HERE.

  • great how do you do that with the colors!!!!!! really amazing

  • @PhotoMom1216 - With Paint Shop Pro there are different color settings you can play with.  The more color in the original photo the more you can enhance to bring the color up or down.  It really is an amazing software and if you like to color or play with photo editing the program is easy and inexpensive and can do a lot of things to enhance an image.  If there is a lack of color you can add it with settings and the use of brushes or flood fill and more.

  • @PhotoGraphics - wow sounds like fun, I will look into it !

  • Wonderful take on the challenge.  I love all the bright colors!

  • Clever take on this challenge! Nice shots!

  • Very Colourful Interpretation of the Challenge!

  • Colorful pictures, post, and personality. Alliteration always adds awesomness.

Mini for you. Reminded me of your pictures somehow, so I stopped by and now I know how.

  • The school  bus makes me ” nut ” ! It is flashing and powerful . The color is a tasting yellow .
I notice it is bearing 4 rearview mirrors .
This is certainly a modern bus but it looks like an antique one . This makes perhaps its charm .

    Love

    Michel
