Where do we go in the Fall?

Honestly, we travel very little distance in the Fall, instead enjoying local pursuits (50 mile radius).  We have a lot of city and county parks and if we get the bug to travel, there are state parks within a couple of hours drive and national parks no more than a days drive.  Our local highway plus parks make for exciting Autumn color outings. Surrounding states, especially Indiana are noted for Fall color and we love to see it but if Ohio is not hit by drought, our color can rival anyplace and short drives or walks can provide the perfect photo.  The BIGGGG drawback, unlike wide open spaces, much local fall color is distorted with wires and poles so a different angle may be needed to get the best image.  If you can look past the problems, many a colorful photo can be logged into the camera for prints or online views.  This makes our local Fall excursions, well worth their weight in camera gold.

    Some Fall Photos

#1- Hoppy’s / Glenn Island Miami River, Loveland has a canoe livery only a couple of miles from our house that travels this river.  it stays busy during all nice weather.

#2-  Lake Isabella County Park, John and I spend a lot of time in this park.  Lots of fishermen fish here.  It’s a small park.  It is pretty much kept up though areas the fishermen walk are worn to grassless.

#3- Loveland Castle, Chateau LaRoche, one man with an idea built this castle.  It’s unique because of this single fact.

#4- Loveland City Park and not the only one.  It has a nice lake and courts for tennis and other court sports.  It also has fields for team sports.

#5- Montgomery, Ohio City Park is a nice neighborhood park with a lake, lots of geese and families who enjoy it all.

#6- Sharon Woods County Park, it has been around longer than I am old.  Just about anything a park usually provides is here except for horse back riding.  Others of our county parks profide that entertainment.

#7- Spring Grove Cemetery Park, a cemetery but actually the nicest park in the area, my opinion.  I really enjoy being in this park for photos.

#8- Woodland Mound County Park is fairly small compared to others of Hamilton Counties parks but it has some really beautiful spots especially in a nice fall.  The red in these trees is breath taking.

Have a super week and thanks for comments, always.

  • Great shots! I’ve been told that the Loveland Castle has a wonderful garden in the spring. Maybe we ought to meet up there when the spring flowers show their pretty faces and get some shots.
    *sparkle

  • @Sparkling_Rainbow - I would love to find time and do exactly that.  I’ll look forward to it.

  • Wonderful! I like the castle shot.  Do you have any closeups of the castle walls?

  • What a lovely green backdrop for your site! Beautiful Fall colours in your photos making it hard to choose a favourite, as they are all so striking. Super shot of the Miami River with the background of Fall trees. I appreciate the uniqueness of a castle in the States, however it is hard to take a walk without tripping over them here! LOL! The Film makers who want castles in their films here, have a job not finding one, but choosing which one. Here is a link to Nunney Castle (now a ruin) but has many memories for me as I went to the village school as a young boy 1945-46. Nunney Castle

  • @Jaynebug - At the time I was able to do some walking in the castle, we had no camera.  I have felt the walls, climbed the stairs and looked over the top and peeked into dungeons.  I’ll have to take a closeup the next time I have the opportunity.  I can tell you it is built of river rock, hand carried to the site from the river just below it and hundreds of bricks made of morter poured into waxed milk cartons.  One man with help from his boy scout troop built it.  see more:  http://www.lovelandcastle.com/

  • @tim_beddard - Well Tim, we don’t trip over castles here, we trip over our own feet.  We do have more than a single castle in this country, actually.  Here is a good page for you to check them out:  http://www.dupontcastle.com/castles/  and I will look at your Nonny Castle.  Here by the way is a list of the castles in the UK:  http://www.castles.nl/list.html  I have traveled the pages of more than a few, all fascinating.

  • good morning,  I love the colour shots the bright yellows the vivid reds.  No.4 really captures the beauty that autumn can bring.  lovely

  • Lovely places to visit!

  • I see john fishing on the second picture .
Your pictures have warm colors . The one that stikes me is Loveland Castle . This makes me thinks of a British castle of Tudao style .
    Love
    Michel

ps : last wednesday was our 48th wedding anniversary and yesterday it was the anniversary of Marina . So sad . I cannot forget all of what you did for her and us .

  • @fauquet - Michel, you are too kind.  Happy Anniversary.  I’ll pop over to visit your site now.  Oh, not John in the photo, I wish we did fish, we just take photos of the fellows who do.  It’s a wonderful quiet passtime, the fishing and the photo taking.  Hugs to both of you.  Becca

  • Lovely shots. Judi

  • How absolutely beautiful.  Great shots.

  • I love your frame effects… made the photos pop somehow…

  • It’s amazing at how much beauty is in everyday things…love the photos, and thanks for sharing !

  • That castle is just my sort of house! Does someone live in it or is it a folly to someones dream? Like all the photos Becca, wonderful autumn colours.

  • @ihsankhairir - Hi and thanks for your comment about my frame effects.  I enjoy using it as it makes them pop for me too.  Thanks for looking and always for the comments.

@LadyLioness1973 - Hi, there really is beauty if everyday things.  What I discover is how much of it is all over the world.  We can always find something, can’t we?

    Sparkling_Rainbow I hope.

  • @Timages - Hi Tim, I’ve tried three times to send you a decent reply and for some reason, things are not working right.  Anyway, yes, the castle is lived in and open for visitors.  It’s small inside and damp and cold but it has electricity so I guess stays decent for living in.  Sparkling_Rainbow and I plan on some new photos this Spring sometime.  Becca

  • Ah, i like it how you make the borders like that.
    How do you do that?
    Very nice.
