Weekly Photo ChallengeBorrowed! our home belongs to the bank so I consider it borrowed. But, what I’ll review or expose, with my photos, is the fact my husband and I are borrowed in the deepest sense of the word.
1- This skinny little cat found us in July of 2008. I thought it was a kitten about 6 or 7 months old. The vet said his teeth said he was about 18 months or so old. It’s still so hard to believe as he was really stringy. In this photo, he wasn’t real comfortable as he still felt out of place not having wormed his way into our house, yet.
2- This is the same cat nearly a year later to the month, on our roof which he has found how to get onto. So far we have trimmed two bushes back to prevent his climbing to the roof but he still gets there and has us stumped as to how he does it. I guess it’s time to take the bushes out completely. I’ve wondered if he can climb the brick like SpiderCat.
3- Having made the move into the house and taking us over as borrowed servants, this is the satisfied look of a very smart cat who eats and sleeps inside, knowing he can meow his way to the outside world about 20 times a day. Smart he really is, he trained to knock on a hanging bunch of napkin rings to alert us he wants in and he rings bells hanging on the inside of the door to let us know he wants out. We showed him how and why and he got it in about 1 showing. All knocking and bell ringing are utilized at the same time as the MEOW.
4- And here, the satisfied preening, with eyes closed, of a well fed cat who knows he has successfully manipulated his “Borrowed” family into hostages.

Weekly Photo ChallengeI had to study carefully, the pages I researched to define exactly what dusk, dawn and in between was really considered to look like. I really didn’t know the exactness of the terms. I finally got it, I think. So, some photos with camera information on one image.
1- I take a lot of night images. This is obviously a westward drive. Particulars are on the third image down. They would be similar for all of my Dusk till Dawn photos.
2- This is Lake Isabella. John and I spend a fair amount of time there. Our hours vary but nights are good for some lovely quiet images.

These are beautiful!
and I love your “borrowed” family photos too!
I liked the #3 cat photo … the “cyan” (?) really does something special for “that look” … I’m just starting to do some sepia and cyan … I have a photo/blog called “Stephie” you might like (if you haven’t already seen it) … I liked the #3 silhoutte/tree … perfect timing to showcase the sky and the tree … I haven’t done much night photography yet but am going to try …
What a sensible cat. He knows which way his bread is buttered. I thinf the dusk photos are very nice. The lighting ()what there is of it) is so nicely displayed. Great themers. ~ Tim
You were very creative with the challenge on “Something borrowed”. I really had to wreck my brain to think how to respond. Your cat pictures are simply brilliant in its beauty. Cat picture number 3 is my ultimate…animal portraiture vafourite!! the detail and colour both emphasise the nature of the cat. Well done.
Interesting how these challenges drives one to the dictionary. Your dusk till dawn pictures are excellent. I love the clarity you got despite the low light conditions. Do you use a tripod? In any case they seem to call up the mystique of the veil between day and night very well.
I really enjoyed your photos. I was amazed at how much your cat looks like the “borrowed” cat who entered our lives when I was in 5th grade. She, too, would be found on the roof occasionally.
I really like the night shot with the tree branches…I love trees silhouetted against dark or colorful skies.
In the third photo the cat looks like a charmer !! Look at his eyes ! I like also the details of the tongue on the third photo ( it is rare )
The photos at night are mysterious and the last is suitable for Halloween night ! Like your background .
I thank you Becca for your sending by e.mails . But did you lose the way of my place ?

Love
Michel
@fauquet - To all of you who commented on my entry for “Dusk to Dawn” and “Something Borrowed”, you are so appreciated. In answer to a few questions, Tripod use, no, not on any of these images. Taking photos from a moving car doesn’t allow for tripods and the cat, I just keep the camera handy and take as I can. He doesn’t do sittings. As for my camera settings, they are often trial and error. Thanks again to everyone. Becca

I loved watching your borrowed kitty grow from a scrawny, scared little bit of a thing to a fat, contented cat! I love the last picture. I really miss having cats…but since they make dh and ds miserable with allergies and would terrorize the doxies; I must enjoy other people’s cats.
So thank you for sharing!
@ziggswife - About our waif of a cat, yes, I’ve been interested in seeing it come out of it’s neglected stage, too. I really was surprised when the vet gave us the age guess for it. It really is a royal pain in some ways but it’s also fun as it does some crazy things. It’s latched on to my husband as it’s primary friend, only tolerating me for feeding it and letting it in and out the door but nearly grabs John and hugs him. I had hoped it would like me as much as it does John but I’ll live withouot the extra favors. It is very different than a dog which is what I have always had before. Allergies in our family too, they aren’t fun, at all. Thanks for stopping to see my photos. I’m always glad for your visits. Becca
