It runs for one full week from Friday mornings to late Thursday nights.I take a lot of photos on the road.I am pretty sure I’ve posted this one, or similar, before. The view is the main street driving into Loveland, about 3 miles down the road and when traffic is bumper to bumper as you see here, it takes a while to move the short distance to home , Ohio, USA. I really enjoy taking night photos lit with lights from anywhere or anything and night traffic lets me practice. What I don’t have are things of real interest like the stadium or the river front. I keep hoping. This is maybe 20 minutes from home, traffic going north, away from the Kenwood Shopping Mall. The building under construction has been like you see it for two or three years now. I am guessing money problems here in the states is the culprit.I knew when I saw this scene I wanted the photo. It reminds me, in a distant warped way, of the Running of the Bulls in Spain. When I was in my teens, cars owned by boys my age were always souped up. Looking at this photo I recall the sound of engines reving and the sweet sound of glass pack mufflers as cars lined up as you see them above, getting ready to tear off, racing the streets to see who had the fastest. It was a running of the bulls in a way and a lot of times, just as dangerous. A cult classic movie for a view of what those years were like is, “American Graffiti“. It’s a loved part of my movie collection and a lot of well known actors/actress more or less had their start in it, Harrison Ford, Richard Dreyfuss, Cindy Williams, Mackenzie Phillips, and Suzanne Somers. Ron Howard was already well known from the Andy Griffith show. I like cars, then and now and love those that date back to Model T’s. All of them are appealing to look at, even those Bumper to Bumper. Thanks always for your comments, have a good weekand keep taking those photos.

Weekly Photo Challenge, “What’s Behind Me”

the Weekly Photo Challenge
It runs for one full week from Friday mornings to late Thursday nights.Another entry I had to so some thinking about. I came up with the following. My PhotosWhat’s behind me are things I can’t do anymore and things I haven’t a lot of interest in doing anymore. For instance, clothes shopping isn’t an interest but I enjoy TJMaxx home goods area and Bed Bath and Beyond if I have a need but my favorites is looking ahead to thrift stores. It’s amazing the finds and for the money spent I am beating the system a little. What’s behind me is strenuous sight seeing. Mountain climbing to the tops of the Sears Tower or long walks to get to anyplace doesn’t work anymore. Photos from the car or a a picnic spot in a park or from the front porch is very under rated sightseeing, and you can enjoy some lunch at the same time. What’s behind me is walking sandy beaches and tanning under the hot sun but I never did like sand in my clothes and would rather take photos of others in the water. What’s behind me is biking, climbing, running, and active sports but I find more time for movies, books, cooking and there are always the dishes waiting in the sink. What’s behind me are the thrills and the fun of theme parks but I still get some photos of those who still take those rides. But never let it be said I can’t look ahead to the thrill of perfect Ice cream and necter soda, cold as ice on a hot day.Lots of things are behind me but life’s little things waiting out front are as amazing as they ever were.I nearly forgot …Have a super week and I’ve much more fun looking ahead. Thanks always for comments and visits. -
Weekly Photo Challenge, “Cracked”

It runs for one full week from Friday mornings to late Thursday nights.I had to do some hunting in older photos for most of my entry. I was surprised I found what I did as “Cracked” ideas weren’t coming, easily.I came up with a few somy photos for “Cracked”.This is a newer image I shot from the television while watching Harry Potter, “the Sorcerers Stone”. The image is of Professor Quirrel cracking and disintegrating. This overpass is not only cracked but missing chunks of concrete. I took the photo on our last trip to my sisters, Thanksgiving of this past year, 2009. SCARY!I’ve been told I was cracked handling this seagull as they can give a nasty bite. It was tangled up with a plastic bag then thrown into a trash bin to die. My brother-in-law discovered it which began the rescue. I dropped it into lake Michigan where it drank and drank and drank then just floated, for a long time. I’m guessing it survived and proceeded never to play with another plastic bag but ???This huge bronze hangs on a wall in the Sears Tower in Chicago. It displays cracks as a part of the artwork.I’m not sure this counts as cracked as what we see is missing shingles on the roof. The paint is chipped and cracking or flaking off the building and my guess is there are a few cracks hidden in the structure, somewhere. This was taken in a state park in Kentucky. The stream is filled with rock that has cracked and broken off the surrounding hills. It’s all a part of the constant change of this planet we live on which is filled with cracks in it’s interior and exterior. Most of us don’t experience the frightening upheavals like the quakes in Haiti and Chili but see only remnants of past disturbance in our creek beds and mountainous landscapes.Another challenge done, cracked and otherwise. Thanks always for comments and your visit.
