  • Thinking Green

I have wanted to change the look of my site page for quite a while.  It has been dressed for Christmas for months.  I wanted a Valentines Day theme which never got done because my photos are not working properly.  Today, I pulled out the html I needed, for a St. Patty’s Day look, by creating a fake entry with the photos I wanted to use.  A long way around but I gotter done.  My Photo Manager hasn’t been working right for weeks and I was hoping for a Xanga fix which hasn’t happened.  I have to wonder if the mishaps are leading more deeply into the downfall of this wonderful place.  If Xanga goes under I’ll probably not blog again, anywhere.  Of all the places I have played, Xanga is still the most rewarding for creativity possibilities and other perks.  I hope it survives.

I jumped track when the WeeklyPhotoChallenge closed.  It is missed by more than myself.  I think though, it’s a lot to ask of someone to keep an idea or activity alive, that takes time and effort to keep it going, when so few are playing to help it survive.  Is it really any wonder it died?

A few photos to get me back on track.  For the month of March, a bit O’Green

We did a challenge,Abstract, a while back given by WhatAWonderfulNewWorld.  This image is a photo taken from the television screen while watching Harry Potter.   Playing in Paint Shop Pro, I greened it up for this entry.  If you study the image you cas see Mr. Dursley’s face.

This is an older photo I took at Sharon Woods, a Hamilton County Park.  It was taken with my Kodak DC4800, a really nice little camera, my first digital, purchased in 2001.  The image was taken in the fall and has lots of orange and brown in it but for St. Pats, I greened it up, leaving the jogger at the left as she was, pretty in pink.

Taken on a fall drive a few years ago, also with the Kodak, it was rainy and gorgeous with autumn color.

Here is the change to green, done in Paint Shop Pro.

Our cat who never dreamed he would be the object of so many photos is probably dreaming of a mouse or two during a summer snooze.  The green of summer is what I imagine a lot of us are dreaming about as it’s still been pretty crisp and cool here in Cincinnati.  Today, it’s sunny and bright and the birds are singing away.  The spring colors will soon be showing up with lots of green accents.  I’m looking forward to bunches of new photos as well as bunches of spring flowers.

    Have a great week everyone.

  • Lovely photos… I really like the way you did the photo of the tv, I did see the man but had no idea who it was. Great theme!!

  • Hello Becca, Think i agree with you about not blogging if Xanga stops, i have always been very comfortable with it and even though i’v just started again after a break i would miss it,and i couldn’t be bothered to learn my way around a different system, otherwise we are having some beautiful weather at the moment, i was in a T shirt yesterday , its a little windier today so a bit cooler, lovely sunshine though, must remember to take the camera with me tomorrow.

  • @guestbrief - Thank you for your visit and comment.  The abstract image taken from the Harry Potter movie, I’m a big fan but wouldn’t know it was him either if I hadn’t taken it myself.  Becca

@Timages - Won’t be long Tim and the cold will be gone for good until next winter.  I am hoping for a new lens to help out some of my photo taking.  I have plans I hope I can keep with the new lens.  Very good to hear from you and hope to again, soon.  Becca

  • Yes , Becca , the first picture is an abstract art work . I love it .
And i love esppecially too the last : the colors are so well contrasted and the shapes very sharp .

I thank you for your Lawson e.card for our anniversary .

Do you have news from Tim Beddar . He sent a message to me and you some months ago but  no news since then.
    Love
    Michel

  • @fauquet - Both of the images you pointed out in my Green entry were edited in Paint Shop Pro.  I’m always grateful to have PSP to play with as I can change things whatever strikes me to change, giving me things to do rather than being bored.  You are most welcome for the anniversary card, I am always late and feel flustered when I discover it but think it is always good to send even if late.  Tim Beddard, I am in contact with him a lot but we are both busy with other things so I don’t talk to him as much as I did.  He is worn out with Xanga, similar feelings as my own per lack of interest in some of our things especially as we both comment on photo work where friends posted in the now defunct WeeklyPhotoChallenge.  We both know we can’t control reactions of others.  Anyway, Tim is doing okay.  They have added a puppy to their family a while back, Lottie.  She no longer looks like a puppy, all grown up and really cute.  They were inundated with lots of snow this winter as were so many other places but they managed.  Anyway, he and his family are all doing well as far as I know and Tim still takes lots of photos.  Becca

  • Thank you for the news above ? This is reassuring .
And about your second comment you are right , a hole in a clothe don’ t bother for gardening !

    Love

  • Very sad news indeed about weekly photo challenge… was becoming a reason for me to try and post regularly. Neat St. Patty’s day collage.

  • @sir_spamalot - I was thinking of looking through Xanga for another place to play.  There are others but I never got interested in them like I did the WeeklyPhotoChallenge.  Maybe someone will start something new.  I did have some groups but have closed most of them as I am getting too old to keep up.  Maybe you can start a WeeklyPhotoChallenge site we can all play in.  Hope you are doing well.  I’ll try to stop by your site to see what your latest entry is about.  Becca

  • Lovely photo’s…. I am too lazy without the photo challenge…Maybe we should put our minds together to make a new photo challenge play field…even if it is only one or two participating. Will still be fun.

  • @Zeal4living - There are more than a few who miss the challenge.  Being older, it’s gotten harder to keep up but I love my camera and am willing to play some if I get the opportunity.  If someone starts a group or finds a group I would look at it with thoughts of playing some.  So many are active in facebook, more or less left Xanga which seems a shame.  I have a facebook account but just can’t get really excited about it.  Hope you are doing well and maybe you should start a group.

  • wondered how you were ,Becca , but I see you have just reply to Zeal4living above . So I am reassured .
This post has been posted 49 days ago . This seems strange . I hope you have high spirit .

    Take care of you
